Leading Russian airline partners with MTT to expand its mobile services
S7 Mobile web was originally launched by S7 and MTT in September 2009 and is used by tens of thousands of customers per month.
S7, a pioneer in airline web and electronic customer services, offered the first mobile travel site among the Russian airlines. The new iPhone App, which can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes App Store, supercharges their mobile services.
While iPhone Apps are increasingly popular, not all customers wish to install an on-device App. The new S7 iPhone offering ensures that customers who choose not to download the application can experience the same efficient and user-friendly interface, by accessing the service via the iPhone mobile web browser.
Services available to customers in Russian (Cyrillic), English and German via S7 iPhone include:
- Best Fare Search
- Real-time Booking
- Seat Selection
- Online Check-in
- Flight Info
- Access to S7 Priority Frequent Flyer Program
- Click to Call and Click to Email access to Customer Service
“S7 is one of the most progressive airlines in Russia, we’re committed to using the latest technology to provide the best service to our customers,” said Mr Dmitry Chuyko, E-Business Director for S7. “Quick and easy-to-use mobile services are an important convenience for our customers and our partnership with MTT allows us to continually innovate and rapidly implement new mobile services.”
The iPhone App and mobile services implemented for S7 are powered by MTT’s intelligent mobile airline platform, m2plane. In addition to providing the server-side support for the iPhone App, m2plane also allows customers to access the S7 mobile web site on more than 6,000 types of mobile device.
MTT’s iPhone services are developed in HTML5, the only technology (besides Objective-C) accepted and recommended by Apple, providing the same rich interface to iPhone users who access the service via the mobile web browser, as they do to users who download the App, making it easier to provide top-quality service to all customers, whatever their access preference. HTML5 applications can also be quickly and easily configured by MTT to work optimally on Android, high-end Nokia devices, and increasing numbers of other devices.
Gerry Samuels, Founder and Executive Director, MTT, comments: “MTT is delighted with our continued partnership with S7. Mobile technology is an increasingly important channel for airlines all over the world, and companies making the investment in mobile are seeing dramatic returns. We’re continually investing in our m2plane platform to ensure that it is modern, configurable and able to adapt quickly to meet future developments. HTML5 is a key technology for mobile travel, and part of our core expertise. We’re delighted to work with a progressive airline like S7 to deliver a modern, best of breed solution. “
